Day 1: A new, twinky-less journey

Dear blog readers,

Alas, the day has come. The day I must put aside the twinkies and face reality... the reality that is my butt is just a little bigger than I'd like it to be, my new "mummy" tummy ain't gonna be cute forever, and it's just too darn expensive to have to keep buying bigger bras! (My beautiful, hardly worn 34D's WILL see the light of day again)

So... I am NOT a runner. In fact, I am so not looking forward to my first run today. So much so that I am procrastinating it by starting this blog, claiming that I will use it for motivation over the next 21 days of hell that I will be experiencing. Well, as my mother always said, God will never give me anything I can't handle. So that assures me that I won't die anyways...

I admire those runners, don't you? Those perfect looking runners, who run so flawlessely, looking perfectly fashionable and coordinated in their Lulu lemon outfits with their water bottle belts, fancy running watches, headbands, ipod arm bands, perfectly swinging pony-tails, without a single hair out of place, and just the perfect amount of sweat; not too much and not too little, just enough to show the lot of us envious non-runners that their burning calories but not absolutely killing themselves like the rest of us would be. Seriously, anyone who is anything like me looks at them and thinks that their crazy, and also that we would love to be crazy with them. But why do they have to make it look so intimidating? I'm sure they do it on purpose. They make us so uncomfortably curious as to how on earth they are even still breathing that eventually we'll HAVE to try it out for ourselves. And the city isn't helping anything... they have to put the running trails RIGHT next to the river, because those runners didn't look beautiful enough as it was before. I guess they have to do something about the growing rate of obesity in this country...

So tonight's the night. Not "the" night as Rod Stewart would have it, but the night for my very first run. I will blog to you tomorrow, whoever you are, about the painful exeriences of tonight.

If you care to join me, you can sign up for 30 days to a 30-minute running habit at http://running.about.com/c/ec/10.htm

Thanks for the support, blog ya tomorrow!
